Look, we didn't start this firm because we wanted another boring tax shop. We've spent years working with tech founders who were genuinely excited about changing the world but kept hitting the same wall - accountants who didn't get it. So we built something different.
Started in a cramped WeWork office with just three of us and way too much coffee. Our first client was a friend's fintech startup that'd been burned by their previous accountant - someone who charged them $8K to basically file paperwork wrong. We knew there had to be a better way to serve companies that were actually building the future.
COVID hit and honestly? It made us better. While everyone was freaking out, we went all-in on cloud solutions. Helped 40+ tech companies navigate CEWS, CEBA, and all those other acronyms. Turns out being comfortable with remote work and digital tools wasn't just nice to have anymore - it was essential. We tripled our client base that year.
Moved into our current space on Yonge Street. Added specialized teams for crypto accounting, R&D tax credits (SR&ED - if you know, you know), and cross-border tax planning. Started hosting quarterly meetups where our clients could actually network with each other. Some of the partnerships that've come out of those nights? Pretty incredible.
We're now working with 150+ innovative companies across Canada. Yeah, we've grown, but we haven't lost what made us different. Every client still gets a dedicated team who actually understands their business model. We're not trying to be the biggest accounting firm - just the one tech founders recommend to each other when someone asks "who does your books?"
